Hola! Mucho gusto, join me as I embarked on a historical journey in Malacca with a quintessential Spanish romance at Casa del Rio.
The Grande Dame is the newest addition to The Boutique Collection by HPL Hotels & Resorts. Casa del Rio, which is Spanish for ‘home by the river’, is a mansion of opulence, sitting majestically on the riverbank, only a 2-min walk from the popular Jonkers Walk & the heritage attractions of Melaka.
Thanks to Casa del Rio, I got to extend another two nites stay in Malacca with my friend after my Date With Bloggers At Melaka 2012 event.
I was totally smitten by the gorgeous Spanish Lady from the moment I stepped into the lobby. Icy Lime Sorbet with my name “inscribed” on a leaf & cold towels awaits us as we were ushered to check in at their Lago side Cabanas.
Rooms
When we were escorted to our room, the interior was bathed in natural light & decorated in soothing hues.
Rooms at Casa del Rio are spacious & beautifully decorated & designed, blending that Mediterranean style with hints of the Peranankan Baba Nonya “Straits-Chinese”.
The luxuriously appointed bathrooms feature sliding screens that open up to the rooms & views beyond the balcony.
Spacious marble-lined bathrooms feature separate shower & a deep tub. The bathroom is also lavishly stocked with amenities.
The splendid view had us spellbound as we looked out from our room’s balcony. All the rooms have beautifully-lined Bougainvilleas balconies which overlook the courtyard ‘Lago’ or the Melaka River.
Here’s a veranda with your very own private seat to a good view, giving you a dramatic scenery. It was truly an intoxicating moment!
In-room facilities also include high-speed internet access, flat screen TV, CD, DVD players, iPod docking stations, IDD phones etc.
The room also has an iron & ironing board for your personal use.
The well-stock mini bar comes with complimentary BonChoco Chocolate Drinks, BOH infused tea & Aik Cheong Coffee.
Each room also offers freshly ground coffee & TWG tea.
Rooftop Infinity Pool
In addition to its state-of-the-art facilities, Casa del Rio offers a 20m Infinity Lap Pool + a complex of pools including a child’s area, with a poolside bar screening movies & offering light snacks from 8pm.
Have a siesta & enjoy the tropical sun at their rooftop garden.
Gym
Slip into your workout wear & get revitalised at the hotel's 24hrs rooftop gym, equipped with modern cardio training & strength equipment.
River Cruise
Melaka River has a boat tour with a tour guide highlighting interesting places. Casa del Rio recommends the evening cruise which offers the lights of the historic city as you travel through the city’s heart & discover its history through the narrator.
River Cruises depart daily between 9.30am to midnight on 30-min intervals from the jetty on the opposite side of the hotel.
(Ticket)
Adult: RM20, Children: RM10, ‘My Card’ Holder: 50% discount.
*Tip: Let them know you are from Casa del Rio & they will often drop you off at the hotel jetty by the Piazza. So take the River Cruise along Melaka River if you’ve the time for a little enjoyment.
Dining
For your gastronomic pleasures, Casa del Rio offers simple cooking using the freshest ingredients. Their extensive riverside dining hails quite an array of cuisines at their Bar Rio, River Café & River Grill. Check out my reviews at::
The hotel’s facilities & service are stylishly 5-star, without compromising the comfort & pleasures of their guests. Casa del Rio is certainly unique as it’s the only hotel property in Malacca that’s located on the bank of the stately Melaka River. Your home by the river becomes a carnival seemingly afloat on a river of lights when night falls.
With its alluring mix of charm, Casa del Rio is definitely your preferred choice of hotel! Gracias, Casa del Rio Melaka! Rating: ★★★★★
