Chinese New Year 8-Course Festive Dinner With Friends

chinese new year recipes idea luxury haven
Lunar New Year is all about catching up with family members and friends, and having a good time together. There will always be lots of food and snacks, and sometimes gambling sessions like playing cards and mahjong will take place.

This CNY, I was happy to be able to catch up with my ex-team mates from Singapore Airlines and reminisce about our flying days as cabin crew. I was excited about our gathering again and had planned an 8-course dinner menu for the occasion. What do you think of my menu?

chinese new year lohei yusheng
To kick off the auspicious dinner, we did a Lo Hei ( 撈起 ), a tradition whereby diners would toss the Yu Sheng Salad ( 鱼生 ) as high as possible and shout out auspicious wishes for good luck.

  6. Shirley, I can only imagine what a fun time your friends had enjoying your 8 course feast. It's stunning, plus it must have tasted fantastic! You put such care into your meals and your friends, xo. :) I thought your method of turning the taupok inside out to ensure crunchiness was very innovative, too!

  15. Wow! Shirley,
I can feel how enthusiastic you were to have your friends over to entertain in each and every one of these dishes. Your presentation is magnificent and the choices befitting a celebratory holiday for sharing good times. If I absolutely had to choose on presentation, I would have to pick the broccoli. I've never seen it look more becoming:) Of course everything looks fabulous!

Thank you so much for sharing your table and friends with us Shirley...
