Concorde Hotel Singapore Spices Cafe's Choctober Festival!

It's raining CHOCOLATES at Concorde Hotel Singapore!! I've been to a Chocolate Spa and also had fun at a Chocolate Desserts High-Tea some time back, but the food presented to me at the Choctober Festival was beyond my wildest imagination!

I'm not kidding! You'll find Smoked Duck Breast Roll in Black Chocolate, Pan-fried Cod Fish with White Chocolate Cream, Unagi topped with Sweet Soya and Bitter Chocolate and more!

spices cafe chocolate cocktails minty way white forest
Shall we start with their Chocolate Cocktails @ SGD 12 each? I'm a sucker for Baileys Irish Cream and Kahlua Milk, so the Minty Way and White Forest got my attention! Even their names sound cool!

Minty Way is a concoction of White Crème de Menthe, Baileys and Brown Crème de Cacao. The mint-flavoured drink has a strong accent and it's really rich and chocolatey. White Forest is a milder cocktail with Pernod, White Crème de Cacao, Coconut Milk and Kahlua; definitely a more soothing liqueur-based drink for the novice.

concorde hotel seafood soup with chocolate milk review
We set the mood right and commenced our tasting session with their Seafood Soup with Chocolate Milk @ SGD 8! The bisque was nice and velvety, not sure if it was due to the additional of chocolate though I failed to get the hint except for its sweetness. But I was delighted to find a decent crab claw among other fresh seafood in the rich and creamy bisque. It came piping hot, so my family really enjoyed the soup. Diners also have the option to have it served chilled.

Spices Cafe's Choctober Festival Ala Carte Menu also surprised us with their Pork Knuckles with Green Apples, White and Brown Chocolate Sauce @ SGD 34.

The Pork Knuckles swept my feet off the floor completely with their crispy skin. It's brilliant to serve the meat with the sourish chocolate sauce to open up the palate. Must-try!

concorde hotel singapore roast rib eye beef reviews
We had our Roast Rib Eye of Beef with Chocolate Red Wine Jus @ SGD 34 medium-well. Although the meat was flavourful on its on with a nice touch of the Rosemary herb, we found it to be a tad too dry.

spices cafe choctober festival lava cake review
The Chocolate Lava Cake @ SGD 10 was certainly a real eye pleaser topped with a white chocolate ball in funky blue coating.

concorde hotel spices cafe choctober festival lava cake
I'm real picker when it comes to Lava Cakes; the chocolate has to be runny when it's cut. Not sure if the cake was over-baked or we took too long before we started digging in, the "volcano" didn't erupt to our expectation and there was no lava flowing out. Nonetheless, the texture was rich and chocolatey and it complemented very well with the sweet and sour raspberry.

Let's now take a look at their Harvest of the Sea Buffet Dinner with the chocolate theme:
