Jass Hair Design Introduces Wellness Gua Sha Scalp Spa

jass hair design galvanic nir suction gua sha
#Galvanic technology, based on positive and negative forces working to create a magnet-like effect, has been around for the longest years. Developed based on accurate knowledge of scalp physiology, I'm delighted to experience this ultimate all in one professional scalp care treatment with my Gua Sha Scalp Spa at Jass Hair Design.

For those who aren't familiar with the term #Guasha (刮痧 ), I'd mentioned in one of my beauty posts that Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese medical treatment to release unhealthy elements by creating ‘ sha ’. The technique is known to be effective in treating muscle aches and pains, fever, chill, cough and more.

I love how the technology at Jass Hair Design combines the Hair Spa with a relaxing scalp treatment + applying the Gua Sha technique on my aching shoulders. Here's what a typical Gua Sha Scalp Spa at Jass is like:

A Kinactif Intensive treatment is massaged onto the scalp. Depending on the condition of your scalp, you'll be given either one of the treatments:
  • Kinactif Clay Balance Intensive Treatment against stubborn fat. Fully absorbs the grease, cleaning up and balancing the scalp.
  • Kinactif Massage Calm Intensive Treatment with relaxing action immediately soothing scalp irritation and itching.

As I just had a body massage before my visit to Jass, my scalp was a bit oily. Hence, I was given Kinactif Clay Balance.

While the clay is working on the scalp, a lemongrass oil is then applied on the shoulders to prepare for the gua sha therapy.

Instead of using the traditional water buffalo horn or jade, a Gua Sha device that emits a #NIR ( Near Infrared Red ) light with a suction pressure is used here. This is said to maximize the results of the massage by expanding the blood vessels, and stimulating the flow of lymph and blood.

The suction offers a relaxing massage for stiff shoulders and to promote better blood circulation. Depending on your tolerance level, your hair stylist is able to control the intensity of the pressure to suit your comfort.

I had requested for medium pressure and this is how it looks like after the 5-min session. These pimple-like spots are known as Sha, which are actually the heat or the unhealthy elements dispelled from your body. Depending on the intensity, the redness will go off in 2 - 5 days.

A soothing hand massage will soon followed after the gua sha therapy.

By then, the clay on the scalp is dried and a scalp massage will be given at this point.

jass hair design galvanic ion iontophoresis scalp review
Ion therapy will be introduced here. The ( + ) and ( - ) ions of galvanic discharges the wastes and toxins accumulated both on and in the scalp and helps to improve the blood circulation.

Iontophoresis soon followed after a relaxing shampoo, whereby the ampoule is discharged into an air gun. The therapy makes the skin generally more permeable to foreign substances by opening the pores.

By using the air gun, it increases the penetration of the ampoules and enables even distribution to the follicles.

This will be followed by 10-min steam with red infra to trigger better blood circulation as well as to promote the effective delivery of the nutrients.

The scalp therapy ends with a beautiful hair styling of your choice.

The Gua Sha Scalp Spa is a multifunction caring treatment to give you a healthier scalp. When used with the salon's recommended hair care series, it's inevitable not to notice remarkable results for both your hair and scalp.

The treatment proves to be an efficient remedy with the use of pressure "suction" and Ion therapy. As a result, the capillary circulation becomes improved, providing an ideal state on scalp for regaining tones and nutrition for the hair and scalp. Besides, Gua Sha is an effective treatment for both external and internal pain, and helps to resolve acute and chronic disorders.

  27. I am a very firm believer in this Chinese Gua Sha for our well being but your sophisticated treatment on the scalp using this Gua Sha is a new eye opener to me. It is logic that our heads and scalps need to be pampered more cos our brains and hair are there! I am impressed with their methods used esp the air brush gun! Wow!
