During our recent Staycation at Concorde Hotel Singapore, my family tucked ourselves into Spices Cafe after checking into the lovely hotel in Orchard.

A posh and inviting Spices Bar greeted us just before we enter into the dining hall. The newly-renovated bar is a perfect setting for a gathering over a glass of cocktail or bubbly, or a pick from their extensive wine list. Let's check out some of the food served during the Weekend Afternoon Tea Buffet at the Spices Cafe:

I particularly enjoyed the Kway Chap, which I thought was pretty uncommon in hotel buffets. For those who aren't familiar with this local cuisine, it's a Teochew dish with flat rice sheets in a soup made with dark soy sauce, served with some internal pig organs, braised duck meat, types of of beancurd, preserved vegetables, and braised hard-boiled eggs.

Seaefood lovers may like to check out Concorde's Harvest of the Sea Buffet Dinner, which I found rather value for money. Let's look at the spread besides these succulent sashimi and shellfish:

Diners for the Harvest of the Sea Buffet Dinner will also get to feast on 5 crab dishes; the Chef will whip up these crabs upon your request. My family picked the Salted-Egg Crab, Butter and White Pepper Crab and Black Pepper Crab. While the Black Pepper and Salted-Egg ones were quite tasty, we found the Butter Crab a tad too sweet.

We were actually expecting some baby lobsters to arrive, but were indeed surprised to get a generous portion of lobsters. These crustaceans were perfectly baked; absolutely a succulent and cheesy treat! Rating for Dinner Buffet: ★★★★★

  1. Whoa! That really quite a spread of food for both afternoon tea and dinner. Never knew Concorde have such a good deal...... for $50++ to $54++, one could get to eat baby abalone or half a lobster..... it's surely a "must try" deal. Thanks for sharing and would definitely have this in mind should I plan for a buffet.

  2. Shirley, your title caught my eye -- Seafood Buffet -- that's what I'm making for dinner tonight... shrimp, crab, stuffed sole, and... drum roll... lobster. While my little repast won't compare in the least to this sumptuous buffet, I'll be thinking of you when I enjoy every delectable bite of lobster! (My belated Mother's Day dinner -- didn't have time to cook it "on the day!") Now, would you please pass me some of that sashimi...? ;) xo

The price SGD50++ is very reasonable even after conversion to MYR. I think our hotels are slaughtering us with hefty charges per head.

    1. Tan, my family aren't exactly fans of buffets cause we would rather choose quality over quantity. So we were glad ala carte dishes were also included in the buffet & they were real yummy! I think the prices are pretty reasonable at this hotel too.
