ameyoko tokyo luxury haven blog
This is a dated post for my last December trip to Tokyo. After a tiring day shopping with Chie at Tsukiji Market (築地市場), Ameyoko (アメ横) & Akihabara (秋葉原), I was so glad a sumptuous dinner was waiting ahead for us.

caretta shiodome hokkaido northern japanese restaurant
Feasting at the Hokkaido Northern Japanese Food was my round 2 dining at the Caretta Shiodome, following my Sky Dining @ Nadaman Shiodome 47, 日本料理なだ万汐留. Seriously, food lovers visiting Tokyo gotta check out this mall filled with tasteful restaurants.

caretta shiodome hokkaido japanese restaurant review
This dinner treat was planned for me by another long-time Japanese friend of mine. Ito-san would always take care of me whenever I’m in Japan. This pix was taken by him; unfortunately the pix of us three taken by the waitress didn't turn out well :< I’m really delighted to introduced Chie to him; dining & catching with two of my good friends is such a joy.

Let’s see what Ito-san had ordered for us:

caretta shiodome hokkaido japanese snow crab hotpot
Snow Crab Hotpot (紅ずわい蟹鍋) @ ¥1,869

caretta shiodome hokkaido japanese snow crab siew mai
Snow Crab Siew Mai Dumpling (紅ずわいたっぷり蟹シュウマイ) @ ¥819

caretta shiodome hokkaido japanese restaurant sashimi platter
Hokkaido Rainbow Sashimi Platter (北海彩り盛り) @ ¥2,604,
consists of 9 different types of raw seafood

caretta shiodome hokkaido japanese restaurant abalone sashimi
Abalone Sashimi (活蝦夷あわび刺身) @ ¥1,659

caretta shiodome hokkaido japanese char-grilled abalone
Charcoal-grilled Abalone (活蝦夷あわび炭火焼き) @ ¥1,659

caretta shiodome hokkaido japanese assorted skewers
Assorted Skewers (串焼き盛り合わせ7点) @ ¥1,554,
consists of Skipper Fish, Liver, Meatball, Chicken Wing, Skin & Okra.

Picture speaks a thousand words; do I need to speak more? Fresh seafood, economical prices with great view on Level 46! Just look at the prices of the Abalone & Snow Crab, they're so affordable compared to Singapore. It’s so much cheaper to eat in Japan these days. Rating: ★★★★★

ana airport lounge onigiri ice-cream
After 4 days of eating & shopping in Tokyo, it was time to bid ‘Sayonara’ to this bustling city yet again. The next day, I headed to the ANA Lounge after checking in to get a quick bite before boarding.

ana airport lounge buffet
ANA Lounge in Tokyo is one of the better airport lounges other than of course, the Singapore Airlines lounge here. They've a mini buffet counter, & passengers can also order a bowl of Udon.

singapore airlines boeing 777-300er business class
Time to board the plane; I’d booked my seat way in advance. These single seats are very popular onboard the business class of SQ Boeing 777-300ER, & are snapped up real fast. I don’t like to sit with others when I’m flying alone. Not that I’m anti-social or snobbish, but I enjoy watching movies & sometimes they make me cry a lot. Lol! I can’t sleep onboard, so I spent most of the time reading or catching up on my movies. SQ has a huge range of movies to watch, so it’s like never-ending.

singapore airlines business class tokyo singapore menu
Remember I'd Booked The Cook on Singapore Airlines on my flight to Tokyo? Well, I only booked one way, so this was the day’s menu from Tokyo to Singapore. Guess which I'd picked for my main course?

singapore airlines business class satay meal
One of the popular items on board SQ is their Satay. I’m always longing for this whenever I fly with them.

singapore airlines business class lobster medallions
The appetizer was the Lobster Medallions served with Mango Salad.

singapore airlines business class bbq pork
For the main, passengers had a choice of Gindara Saikyo Yaki which is Cod Fish, or the Beef Fillet; I picked the Sauteed Pork with BBQ Sauce.

singapore airlines business class ice-cream
Yes, it’s ice-cream time again - Azuki (red bean) Ice-Cream with Green Tea Sauce.

singapore airlines business class cheese platter
My meal ended with a selection of Gourmet Cheese, followed by fresh fruits.

singapore airlines business class chocolate pralines
Of course not forgetting Coffee/Tea with Pralines.

Writing travel posts is certainly not easy. It always makes me wanna book the next flight out again. Well, hope you’ve enjoyed my series of Tokyo shopping & eating posts. Till then…….

  7. Gosh, I love Japanese food so much that I wouldn't mind having it for all my meals. =D Too bad I don't have the additional cash to fly out to Tokyo on business class at this time.

I shouldn't be reading this post while I'm having lunch. Shirley, the fresh, raw slices of the seafood is now tempting me to "tear" it out of the computer screen. xD

  10. gorgeous sashimi, never had abalone sashimi before, how does it tastes? chewy texture or tender? it must be good

    1. Ken, still prefer braised abalone anytime! Sashimi-style is a little chewy; texture very different from those straight from the can, if that explains better :)

  20. Shirley, you write wonderful travel posts, not to mention taking mouthwatering photographs of the food. As you mentioned, it isn't easy -- pat yourself on the back for a job well done! The crab dishes looked marvelous, but I bet you were lovin' that abalone. ;) Also, the joy you got from dining with friends & being taken care of by the Chef came through loud & clear -- love it!

Flight with business seat at year-end for shopping and eating – what a glamorous life! Wish you pleasant surprises and exciting experiences in 2014.
