eczema, dermatitis

Have you ever get itchy hands after using a certain brand of dish washing liquid to wash your dishes, or some cleaning liquid to clean your home? I'm sick & tired of household cleaning products that strip your skin of essential water & oils, leading to dryness & irritation. For some people, these can progress to more severe skin conditions such as eczema or dermatitis.

poison
In fact, studies from The American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) has recorded many exposures to household cleaning substances that were serious enough to require treatment in a health care facility. Incredibly, according to the AAPCC the largest number of occurrences of poisoning in 1993 were due to cleaning products - drain cleaners, toilet bowl cleaners, bleach, soaps & detergents. Most products contain chlorine in a dry form that is highly concentrated & the #1 cause of household poisoning is dish detergent!

Dishwashing liquids are labelled "harmful if swallowed". Each time you wash your dishes, some residue is left on them, which accumulates with each washing. Your food picks up part of the residue - especially if your meal is hot when you eat it!

  1. Cleaning agents by recycling waste material - this is not new to me. I have some friends who actually did this themself and they were saying it's pretty good except the mess of collecting waste material like fruits skin, rotten vegetables could be quite gross. I shall tell them about Envizyme.

  6. Shirley, I'm allergic to many of the fragrances (and possibly ingredients) in most cleaning products. These products sound like a great solution! I make a lot of "homemade" cleaning solutions to keep my lungs (and eyes and nose) from suffering the ill-effects, but I appreciate knowing about a company that's on top of things. Thanks for "going green!" :)

  14. Hi Shirley:

I see that quite a number of your readers have tried to make their own DIY cleaners at home. Few years ago, the founder of Envizyme, Derrick Tan have gone to many places in Singapore and Malaysia to teach people how to make their own cleaners from fruits. Now that we are very busy attending to our business, we no longer have time to do that. I know that it may mean less sales for us but for those that are still happy with what you can make at home, please continue to do so. Every little thing that we can do in helping our environment will all add up to a bigger impact. Technically, the fermentation stage that DIY process can get to is what we called - vinegar stage. Most people dislike the smell. In our Envizyme process, we added our cultured mother enzyme and we have a 7-stage process which includes various stages of fermentation and filtration process where most people can't do that at home. Our aim is to make our consumer aware that there is an alternative to stay away from chemical-based cleaners and do not cost too much to switch. Keep Your Home Safe & Our Planet Clean. Roy from Envizyme.

  16. It's scary what a cleaning product can cause to the skin. Even though I use gloves, I still sometimes experience itching on my skin. I should change to green cleaning products.
