My First Time As A Single Traveller!

hong kong holiday luxury haven
Do you often travel alone, or with friends & family? I travelled from a very young age with my family, went on a school excursion to Medan (Indonesia) with schoolmates at the age of 16. At 20, I made my 1st long-haul flight to USA all alone to realize my childhood dream - meeting my fave Disney character, Minnie Mouse!

Travelling on a single holiday does have its perks. You'll get to meet like-minded travellers & make new friends. Sometimes, you need a break from your family, & travelling alone can give you time to relax & sort things out. I travel a lot with my friends too, as far as to Europe, mainly for shopping & spa. I would also travel to nearby countries like Tokyo, Hong Kong or Bangkok for my shopping sprees alone, if my friends' schedules can't meet.

Of course, there were also many occasions when I had to travel alone on business. To play it smart, I would make it a point to extend my trips after business for some sight-seeing. Travelling opens up a whole new world for me. Many would have thought that after working as a Flight Attendant for several years, I should've had enough. But travelling is addictive, one can never get enough.

With the internet these days, making travel arrangements are so easy. From booking flights to hotels, & even spa or food tours, everything is just at the click of a mouse. Gosh, I'm already thinking of my next travel destination as I'm writing.

Have you been on a single holiday? When was your first time travelling alone?

  3. Shirley, looking at your old photo when you was little young gal doesn't changed much. You just know how to smile in front of camera. I travelled with airplane since I was one month old and the first I travel alone I guess when I was 8-9. It's true that despite how many times you travel, it's seems never enough and making you more addicted to it.

  7. Yeaa I have been on a single holiday~..my very first travel wasn't alone. I traveled to Singapore with my mom, aunty and a cousin when i was 4 years old. After that I never get to travel abroad until my master's program which I traveled to Bangkok alone for the first time in 21 years. And after that, things have never looked back...I have been travelling alone in South Africa, Japan, Bangkok, China etc~ and I love that feeling when I get to meet other solo/group travelers like me in youth hostels or anywhere :D

    1. Hong, that's such a wonderful experience! Being in the travel industry has also taught me to be independent. I can just pack & go anytime now, as long as I can get hubby to cover for me my duies. Hahaha!
