Spa At Grand Hyatt Seoul & Shopping At Namdaemun (南大门)

Day 3:
Continuing from where I left off, it was another full day in Seoul then returning to Singapore early next day. Too short, perhaps!

grand hyatt seoul, spa, luxury haven
I’d dedicated half a day for my relaxation & pampering my poor feet. Going to a spa is not just a luxury for me but a necessity especially during my travels. Grand Hyatt Seoul offers 14 luxurious Spa Suites & Treatment Rooms with a synthesis of Korean & European spa philosophies based on natural botanical therapies promoting perpetual youth & health.

grand hyatt seoul, spa, massage
I was eager to try their 90-min Korean treatment @ 225,000KRW (about S$250), created with 6-year-old #Ginseng & a blend of traditional #Korean herbs. I'd requested for a soft to medium strokes during my booking but had been advised to take the 90-min Real Aroma @ 210,000KRW instead. The receptionist informed me that strong & hard strokes are used for the Korean #massage & she was afraid I may not like it. Instead, she offered to change the massage oil to Ginseng oil & I took her suggestion.
Nothing beats a good body massage especially after shopping non-stop. The ritual began with feet cleansing & traditional inhalation of the Ginseng oil, allowing me to find serenity. With a combi of soft & medium strokes to zap the aches, the aroma massage lulled me into sleep in no time. It was an uplifting & effective session with the Ginseng oil.

grand hyatt seoul, spa, korean snacks
After the massage, Korean tea & snacks were served. The traditional snack looked somewhat similar to what we have in S’pore. I was hesitant to try as first as it appeared to be really sweet. But I was totally wrong. The crunchy fruit & nut bars were tasty, without the sweetness overpowering its flavour. I finished them in no time & was whisked off to the salon next door to try their Hair & Scalp treatment @ 100,000KRW.

Do I look like an alien here? The Hair & Scalp Treatment was one of the best valued treatments I’ve ever experienced. There were about 5-6 steps in total, with special ampoules & masks applied to the hair. This type of treatment in S’pore will easily cost above S$200 here.

I was fully revitalized after the #spa treatments, ready to charge. After going back to my room for a shower, I was off to have my 2nd round of Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup At Tosokchon (土俗村參雞湯). But let me take you shopping first. You can come back & read about my #GinsengChicken review after you've finished reading this post :)
shopping at namdaemum, seoul, korea
#Myeong-dong is linked via underground passages with #Namdaemun Market, the largest & oldest traditional market in Korea. It’s one of the places that embodies the traditional marketplace feel.

While #Dongdaemun presents a mind-boggling number of buildings with fashion shops, Namdaemun operates as a very large bazaar & visitors can find practically everything here.

The atmosphere at Namdaemun Market is also very different from Myeong-dong. The area’s narrow streets are lined with a colourful mix of clothing from young to old, accessories, home goods, electronics, stationery, crafts, local produce etc. Join the bustle of the market & shop for souvenirs, or admire the vibrancy of this impressive market here. Fashionable tops like the one above is just 10,000KRW. Can you see the bling-bling on one side of the top?

Dinner on this last night was good, the best in this entire trip. The hotel recommended the La Cucina Italian Fine Dining, which is just a stone throw away from Grand Hyatt. Food was impressive. Be sure to drool when you look at the post.......

    3. Hong, I reckoned it could be the red background template as it has patterns on it, while this is plain. I don't know but all the stuff stays the same. I'll be monitoring. Guess it takes a while to get used to it. Thks for coming back again!

  9. I have no idea what 250,000 Won means in USD but if you are telling me it is a good deal I will take your word for it. And yes, I sort of chuckled when I saw you in the chair for that treatment..in the US when we get deep conditioners they seat you under this big bowl that blows hot hair, talk about looking like an alien with an oversized head lol! Great new header and layout :)
