Julie’s Biscuit, Bringing Back The Good-Old-Days!

I’m embarrassed to admit that as I aged & have acquired a higher taste for fanciful cookies like Fauchon, my childhood biscuit brand has since been long forgotten. I’m really pleased that this visit to Julie’s Biscuit Factory, has ignited my teenage crush & once again, found my long-lost love.

Our first visit during my Invitation To A Date With Bloggers At Melaka 2012 was to Perfect Food Manufacturing. "Baking better biscuits" is the Company's commitment to achieve their customers' satisfaction. Indeed. I was totally convinced after visiting their highly organized & effective operations with contemporary high-speed equipment & upgraded ovens etc.

The visit kicked off with a presentation by their GM of Operations, Mr Ng Teng Chai.

Bloggers from S’pore, Philippines & M’sia listened intensely as we were introduced to their factory operations.

After the presentation, we were given a set of “surgical outfit”, ready to go into the “operatiing theatre”. Due to the strict regulation, no photography is allowed in the production room.

We were covered from head to toe. On top of that, we’d to remove all our jewelleries etc. Julie’s observes a high standard of food safety & hygiene. Even after washing our hands clean before entering the room, we’d to sanitize again when we were inside. Although it was a bit of a hassle, I’m sure consumers will be happy to know that Julie's commitment to food safety starts right from its raw materials.

Doris & I resting at Julie’s Café, with lunch provided by Julie’s Biscuits after our factory tour.

All bloggers walked away with a goodie bag from Julie’s Biscuits.

What’s in the bag:

Oat 25 Strawberry Biscuits, made with 25% Oats & packed with real Strawberries. Love the rough texture of the biscuit, giving it more crunch.

Golden Crackers, an evergreen product consumed by the young & old. Also available in Butter, Wheat & Sugar. With four flavours to choose from, there’s bound to be one to suit your palate.

Peanut Butter Sandwich, crunchy & crispy shell filled with your favourite dose of pure peanut butter. If you prefer a buttery taste, you’re gonna love this as it’s one of Julie’s best sellers.

Love Letters with Chocolate Cream, perfect for Chocolate lovers. These wafer-thin rolls come with Strawberry & Vanilla flavours too.

Well, I’ve added Julie’s Biscuits to my tea-time favourites. And my vote goes to……..

Oat 25 Strawberry Biscuits!! I love it, especially when I know that they’re made with real Strawberries. Eating oats on a regular basis can help lower cholesterol level in your blood. These biscuits contain Oligo which is excellent for digestion & are filled with the goodness of Oats & essential vitamins of Strawberries.

I know this has nothing gotta do with Biscuits, but please focus on my Julie’s t-shirt & not on the Chicken Rice Ball please :)

Thank you Julie’s, for the “sauna” experience at your production floor, the goodie bag & t-shirt + bringing back the good-old-charm!

  2. Ooh Julie's biscuits are my favourite! I love factory tours like these. They really help you get a sense of what goes on behind the scenes. I went to the Jelly Belly factory in the US a few years ago and was really impressed by the sheer amount of candy there was in the factory!

  6. So many times when you do finally go back to a childhood food favorite, it has been modified so much that it hardly resembles what you knew. I am glad that this company knows not to mess with the delicious-classics will always remain.

  7. What a fun trip you have, Shirley! I would be smiling non stop if I get the chance to visit a biscuit factory :DI love Julie's biscuits too. I used to like the cheer and peanuts ones. I thin I only saw the square crackers type. Didn't realise there are so many more types these days.

  8. Shirley, virtues of oats aside, the chocolate-filled Love Letters would be my choice! But, if eating those biscuits contributed to your present-day youthful appearance, I'll take ten dozen please! ;)

  11. Great experience Shirley and isn't it great to get into the factory and see how the cookies are made. Julie's used be my fav too but now that I am older, somehow I don't like biscuits anymore. Of course the oatmeal ones are nibbled on once a while.
