A Steamy Affair With Microwave!

Microwave cooking has entered most of our lives since its invention. Especially for the busy executives, time is a factor.

Microwaving has brought so much convenience as it saves the hour. Not only it cooks faster, it's also healthier to use as it helps to retain more minerals & vitamins in the food. From the health point of view, minimum oil is used & the best part of all, there's no need to clean up the kitchen due to smoke & grease.

This is a relatively no-fuss economical dish - another of my healthy recipe. I love the use of ginger on any seafood, as it brings out the tang in it. Besides its many proven nutritional value, the magical mushroom adds flavour to just about any dishes. Adding ham transforms this traditional Chinese steamed fish, giving it a modern touch.

So win your family’s heart with this Delicious Ham & Mushroom Steamed Fish!

Ingredients:
1 slice of Fish
8 Chinese mushrooms
1 slice of Chicken Ham
8 Ginger slices
½ Oyster sauce
½ Soya sauce
1 tsp Sesame oil
½ tsp Olive oil
1 tsp Chinese wine
1 tbsp Chicken stock
½ tsp Corn flour
Pinch of salt & pepper
Parsley flakes for garnish

Marinade for Mushrooms:
½ Oyster sauce
½ Sesame Oil

Method:
  1. Rinse fish & cut them into rectangular pieces. Marinate for at least 30 mins.
  2. Soak mushrooms till soft & cut off stems. Drain water, marinate & set aside.
  3. Cut Ham into 8 pieces. Layer fish, ginger, ham, then mushroom. Arrange them neatly on a plate.
  4. Cover loosely with plastic wrap & put into microwave. Set to “Steam Fish” mode. If your microwave doesn’t come with auto functions, then set to microwave on med-high for about 5-6 mins.
  5. When ready, use a toothpick to check if fish & mushrooms are cooked. Toothpick can easily go through if they’re thoroughly cooked. Sprinkle parsley flakes & serve this delicious dish hot.

  1. Hi Shirley :)

I love my microwave, though I don't often cook a meal in it. It's still indispensable for heating, defrosting and making quickie cake in a cup LOL I do like this dish very much (my favourite ingredients, healthy and no clean up afterwards YAY!!)

You will certainly get my vote - I will try my best to vote daily. Hopefully you will win :) I too will be going on holiday soon so I understand how busy you must be right now.

Thank you so much for the shout out and free promo LOL Wish I could have seen your entry - I know it would have been an interesting one, but maybe next time? ;)

    Have a great holiday Shirley!
