The Amuse Bouche was a trio of Marinated Squid, Fried Seafood & some Vegetables in Red Wine. It was a disappointing start as the young waitress left after serving the Compliments from the Chef, without explaining what the starters were. When questioned, she seemed lost. Politely, she said she’d check with the Chef & revert. However, her answers were vague & we just had to guess what we were eating. I think this is totally unacceptable for a fine-dining restaurant as I’d expect the servers to be well-polished. I haven’t been here for more than 6 mths & I was really looking forward for some pleasant surprises. They’ve never failed to impress me but this time, I was kinda let down. The starter was really nothing great. But, the following courses soon compensated for the flaw & I was all smiles again ……
Momotaro Tomato Farcir with Abalone & Crabmeat Salad. The popular Japanese tomato, topped with the crabmeat salad was an intricate & harmonious combination of sweet & tangy flavour. With my favourite Abalone added to the dish, my dissatisfaction was soon forgotten.
