I’m a Carpaccio fan & I love La Cantina’s Beef Carpaccio @ S$17.20, with lots of shaved Parmesan cheese.
The Calamari (S$16.50) here is a no-no for me as I prefer the crispy version. It’s really very individual. My Japanese friend on the other hand, enjoyed the Calamari as it’s softer & in big chunks. If you like thin pizzas, you may wanna consider dining at La Cantina. Their Fruitti Di Mare (pomodoro, mozzarella, prawn, scallop, squid & shell-fish) is really nice & crispy.
One of the signature dishes is the Linguine Al Granchio (Crabmeat Linguine) @ S$26.90. I must agree it’s done quite well, which is also my favourite in this restaurant. However, I made a wrong choice this time & went for their Linguine Al Nero Di Seppia (S$25.90) instead.
Da Paolo has probably raised the standard of Ink Squid Pasta resulting in me having very high expectation of this particular cuisine. I like my pasta to be made from ink squid, in another word, BLACK & not just using the normal pasta, mix with the sauces & serve it to me. The Ink Squid Pasta lacked the “in-depth” factor & the sizes of the squid are too huge, especially for ladies.
Oh, before I sign off this meal, La Cantina’s home-made bread is one of the best in town. It arrives at your table warm & crisp & I love biting into the tiny bits of black olives.
