Fine Dining: La Strada

After an unsatisfied breakfast at One-Ninety this morning, my friend & I decided to play safe & had lunch at one of our regular hunts. La Strada, “The Street” in Italian, is under the award-winning Les Amis Group & I soon became a staunch follower of the place after it re-opened sometime mid 2007. The ambience, the food, the price, the personalized service & the location being next to my spa, adds it all up.

I had the 3-course set lunch @ S$38+++ today. Started was the Clam Chowder, which is not your usual thick & creamy soup, but rather a home-made version with lots of diced vegetables & clams. It was a healthy choice. les amis la strada clam chowderFor mains, I’ve the choice of Char-grilled grain-fed sirloin, Seafood Skewer or Pizza of the Day. I thought the Char-grilled Prawn & Calamari Skewer sounds good. I was glad to have made the right pick. The skewers came lying on limed mayonnaise boiled potatoes & salad & it tasted as good as it looked. les amis la strada char-grilled prawnsMy choice of dessert seemed boring – Tiramisu. My friend looked at me with surprise & asked, “Why do you have to choose Tiramisu when you can make one just as good?”. I’ve no answer for that but I just didn’t quite like the other two options: Baked Berry Tart or Caramelised Apple with Crushed Amaretti. Both are served with ice-cream. Nevertheless, I was happy with my dessert which came in a coffee cup. les amis la strada  tiramisuRating: 4/5
