This lunch, I visited Crystal Jade Golden Palace, a new generation restaurant that features contemporary Cantonese & Teochew cuisine along with a wine cellar with thousands of wine selection. Lunch time was packed. According to my friend, this outlet is a favourite among business associates but somehow, I've yet to be impressed & today's probably my 5th visit already. Personally, I would give it a 3/5.
Our first course was their Superior Bird’s Nest with Crabmeat & Roe @ S$68/person. I decided to pick this order for a change, instead of the usual Shark’s Fin with Crabmeat & Roe. Soup was thick & rich with generous serving of bird’s nest.
We picked a few tim-sum:
Baked Diced Abalone & Chicken Pastry (鲍鱼鸡粒酥/アワビと鶏肉のパイ) S$4.80 – interesting & the pastry melts in your mouth
Pork dumpling with Hot Chilli Sauce (红油抄手/ホットチリソースのポーク餃子) S$7 – too much veg
Cripsy Roll with Prawn & Mango (香芒金网卷/エビとマンゴーの春巻) S$4.50 – I’ve tasted better
Last dish was Abalone Fried Rice @ S$36. Rice was well-fried but abalone a little bland.
